Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2021 will be held today under the arrangement of Bangladesh Army to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as part of the ‘Mujib Borsho’.
The day marks the historic Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu as he had returned to independent and sovereign Bangladesh on this day in 1972 after over nine and a half months of captivity in a Pakistan jail.
A total of 37 foreign runners will take part in the marathon, including runners from France, Kenya, Ethiopia, Bahrain, Belarus, Ukraine, Morocco and from SAARC countries -India, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan.
