Increasing knowledge of women’s rights among villagers is needed to fight sexual grooming and abuse, said Acting Village Head of Kampong Bukit Udal Muhd Azmi bin Muhd Yusof at an awareness raising event last Sunday.
Muhd Azmi said topics on sexual grooming and incest are important to discuss for the good of the community.
He said that in the 1950’s, women were expected to manage the kitchen and were not able to go to school.
Now, women have equal opportunities with men and hold higher positions in the office together with men and they have the right not to be bullied, he said, citing a recent incident of a father who raped his two daughters.
