LAHORE: The PML-N has announced to challenge the results of the NA-249 Karachi by-poll in which the party’s candidate lost to PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhail by a margin of just 683 votes.
The unofficial election results were announced after 11 hours while the voter turn out was measured at 21.64%.
PML-N leader and former PM Nawaz Sharif’s spokesperson, Mohammad Zubair said the party would challenge the election results and added that the results of 80 polling stations had been altered.
“We have requested the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard,” he said.
In a separate statement on Twitter, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz said the election was stolen from PML-N by only a few hundred votes.

LAHORE: PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz on Friday alleged the NA-249 by-election was stolen from the party after unofficial results showed PPP s Qadir Khan Mandokhail winning the election by a margin of just 683 votes.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was leading the by-election for the closely contested NA-249 constituency of Karachi on Thursday, while the Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate was a close second after a polling process which saw a considerably low turnout.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Amjad Afridi, PPP’s Abdul Qadir Mandokhel, Pakistan Sarzameen Party’s (PSP) Mustafa Kamal, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Hafiz Muhammad Mursaleen and PML-N’s Miftah Ismail were the major players among the 30 contenders for the seat left vacant after resignation of Faisal Vawda in March.
As this story went to print, unofficial and preliminary results by Geo News showed PML-N’s Miftah Ismail leading in 52 of the 276 polling stations with 2,413 votes.

The Pakistan People s Party (PPP) bagged victory in the NA-249 Karachi by-election held on Thursday, defeating the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) contender by 683 votes.
According to the official results, PPP candidate Qadir Khan Mandokhel secured 16,156 votes against Miftah Ismail s 15,473.
Surprisingly, the now proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) stood third as its candidate Allama Nazir Ahmed secured 11,125 votes.
The results further stated that the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) candidate Mustafa Kamal bagged 9,227 votes.
To the surprise of many, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which had won the seat in the last general elections, came fifth in the race.
