ISLAMABAD: The government and the opposition Friday exchanged barbs in the National Assembly over the issue of Khokhar Palace and in the Senate over the performance of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The members of the PML-N lodged protest in the National Assembly after Speaker Asad Qaisar reserved his ruling on a privilege motion sought to be moved on Malik Afzal Khokhar against retrieval of state land allegedly occupied by the parliamentarian in Lahore.
The PML-N members gathered in front of the speaker’s dais after he announced reserving his ruling on admitting the privilege motion to refer it to the Privilege Committee. The situation forced the speaker to adjourn proceedings till Monday afternoon.

Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination
Islamabad, January 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination was held on Thursday, the 28st January, 2021 at 11.00 a.m. in the Parliament House under the Chairpersonship of Senator Khushbakht Shujat.
The meeting was attended by Senator Sana Jamali, Senator Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani, Senator Sana Jamali, Senator Dr. Sikander Mandhro, Senator Dr. Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi, Senator Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen, and Senator Muhammad Dilawar Khan. Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Regulations and Coordination and senior officers of the Ministry and other relevant departments also attended the meeting.

NEW DELHI: The multi-billion dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) appears to have driven a wedge between all-weather allies China and Pakistan.
Sharp differences have emerged between the two countries over a $6.8 billion railway line project which is part of the ambitious China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to a report in Nikkei Asia.
The impasse has even led to an indefinite delay in the annual bilateral CPEC summit, claimed the report.
This is not the first that CPEC has triggered a strain in the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
Pak opposition walks out of Senate over ‘inadequate’ response on CPEC queries

Opposition parties staged a walkout from the Senate session on Friday over the Pakistan government’s “inadequate” response to their queries on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority ordinance, reported Dawn.
They also questioned the meeting of Lt-Gen retired Asim Saleem Bajwa with the Chinese ambassador when the CPEC Authority had no chairman and the CPEC Authority’s ordinance had lapsed.
“Is [retired Lt Gen] Asim Saleem still receiving the salary of the chairman of CPEC Authority?” questioned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi.
