The district administration of Islamabad has made it compulsory for residents to wear face masks at all times in public spaces.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqat has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the capital for two months. People violating the orders will be punished under Section 188 of the law.
âIt becomes essential that the general public must wear face masks while visiting public places in closed areas in Islamabad Capital Territory,â a notification issued by the government read.

Pakistan is now facing the third wave of COVID-19. Saturday marked the third consecutive day more than 2,000 cases were reported.
A total of 2,338 cases and 46 deaths were recorded over 24 hours. The death toll has reached 13,476. The daily case positivity ratio is 5.5; an upward trend was seen as March began.
Protest against JUI-F leader s assassination ends after negotiations in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Following negotiations with the authorities, protests against the killing of three people, including a local leader of the JUI-F in the federal capital s Bara Kahu locality were called off.
The JUI-F s workers, as well as the families of the slain, staged sit-ins and demonstrations at Bara Kahu s Athal Chowk, with protesters blocking the Murree Road that resulted in severe traffic jams and long queues of stranded vehicles.
Qari Karamatur Rahman, a local JUI-P leader, said the victim was an active party member but the FIR of the incident had not been registered yet.
Dedicated seminary for transgenders starts enrolling students

Islamabad : Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqat is succeeding in his mission to transform the lives of the transgender community as the first-ever dedicated Madrassah (seminary) set up for a marginalized segment of society, has started enrolling the students from every age group. So far, 25 transgenders have been enrolled in the seminary set up in Mehrabadi, confirmed Hamza, who has taken a lead in providing the much-needed relief to a segment that remained neglected for various reasons.
Mehrabadi is located on the outskirts of the federal capital.
He said initially, clerics had been hired for the seminary, who would impart basic education and religious teachings to the area’s transgender community, which would eventually ensure their rehabilitation as shelter, food, and skills were being provided to them under one roof.
