SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday expressed concern over the increase in cases of COVID-19 infections in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the government is caught in a quandary on the issue.
While expressing concern over the spike in the COVID-19 infections, Party MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi said the administration is waiting for the snowballing of the prevailing situation into grave crises, saying the administration has turned its back on the exigencies that have propped up in wake of the increased number of infections in past few weeks. “The administration has thrown caution to winds and is completely clueless on the issues. Srinagar: A court in the Kashmir valley has granted bail to Hilal Akbar Lone, the son of National Conference member of parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone, who had been booked on January 9 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, (UAPA), for making a speech during the District Development Council polls.
The court observed during the hearing that âsuch spoken words wouldnât prima facie lead to commission of offence of unlawful activityâ and held that âthere is not any allegation that Hilal Akbar Lone has called for the secession of the territory of the state (sic) from the Union of India, nor were his words intending to cause disaffection against the countryâ.

SRINAGAR, Feb 17: National Conference MPs led by party president Dr Farooq Abdullah today informed the Delimitation Commission for Jammu and Kashmir that they wouldn’t participate in its proceedings as the abrogation of the erstwhile State’s special status was pending adjudication before the Supreme Court.
In a letter to Delimitation Commission chairperson Justice (Retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai, Abdullah, Hasnain Masoodi and Muhammad Akbar Lone expressed their inability to associate with the commission.
They also urged him not to go ahead with the delimitation process as the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 is under judicial scrutiny.
