Ramadan in Pakistan: Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet tomorrow

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) to sight the Ramadan moon, the committee s chairman Maulana Azad confirmed on Monday.
Speaking to
Geo News, Maulana Azad said the committee had also extended an invitation to Mufti Popalzai to attend the meeting. I pray to God, may we develop a consensus with Mufti Popalzai, he said. If Allah wants, our decision and Mufti Popalzai s about the beginning of Ramadan will be the same, added Maulana Azad.
He reiterated his position that Shariah principles and witness testimonies will determine whether the moon has been sighted or not.

Ramadan moon sighting: Ruet-e-Hilal Committee seeks technical support from Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Tuesday sought technical support from Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry for sighting the moon of Ramadan.
The decision was announced by the committee s chairperson Abdul Khabeer Azad during a press conference where he said Ruet-e-Hilal Committee s meetings will be held across the country. The central meeting will be held in Peshawar, he said.
He said the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee said he had spoken to Fawad Chaudhry about the moon sighting exercise as well. I have spoken to Fawad Chaudhry about technical support. He will provide it to us, said Azad.
