early morning raids that are shields and all that. now the letters are so over the top that agents swept into the house from the road and the water. steve bannon, of course, arrested on contempt charges. john eastman and his cell phone taken by federal agents and most recently, former justice official jeffrey clark was raided by the feds in his underwear. here now to discuss all this, lee smith, author of the plot against the president and for president of the center for renewing america. lee, your entire book about but does this shock even you at this point? i have to say it does. i mean, i ve predicted a little while ago that this is the way they had to go . they were unhappy. they were never able to. this is the point of the mueller prosecution. and so they feel that they have outstanding debt with president donald trump. and so they were going to have to go after him. by the way, i think that what they were probably looking for, what they probably are looking
never even pretended to care about good governments. he harassed the mueller prosecution. he smeared you and everybody. who are we joking? how do we even with straight faces say the defense says he was after corruption? he doesn t care about krum corruption. he s more comfortable in corrupt enterprises. typically, the defense is he s ignorant. he didn t know. so when we look at the campaign finance violation, andrew, your team put him on notice that a thing of value, opposition research from a foreign government, counts as a violation of campaign law. mr. mueller said he wasn t sure he could prove corrupt intent. mr. trump certainly knows it now. but when we think of the thing of value, even to call the opposition research i think is a little grand. it wasn t the research or the investigation. it was the announcement that trump wanted. and, in fact, if there had been a legitimate investigation of burisma or the bidens, it would have exposed the bizarre
but we now have a much better understanding of what happened here, right? the big question about flynn, and this is in particular has been raised over and over again by critics of the mueller prosecution, big question, why did mike flynn lie about this stuff? i mean, he was the designated incoming national security adviser. it was a little weird, it s a potentially a logan act violation for the incoming national security adviser to be calling a foreign government, undermining u.s. existing policy and the existing u.s. president. it s a little weird, but the logan act has never actually been used to prosecute anybody. and given that flynn wasn t just some average private citizen, given that he really was the incoming national security adviser, it would be a little weird, but it wouldn t be that weird, for him to be making those kinds of calls with russia. policy is about to change, consider that when you re measuring what your response should be to this latest action from the lame-duck
