do you think the real difference is these are presidential candidates? it s like donald trump rolls up on the scene and suddenly they are all in the mud wrestling. in some ways yes. the president talked about that. he seemed to suggest that there s been some sort of historical and cultural fall from grace in terms of political rhetoric that s been used. i sort of disagree with that. i think this is sort of porta-politics. if you look back into the 1960s and 1800s, political rhetoric seems to you re taking it way back there. i appreciate the historic references. so it s always i think it s par for the course. i think what the president is trying to do as well as hillary clinton is try to make donald trump the poster boy for the republican party. voters tend to draw assumptions about a party, a direction of a party from presidential candidates. in that way, i think they are
