The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) has been working double time to send Olympic hopefuls and qualifiers to a training camp in Thailand in the midst of the pandemic.
ABAP secretary general Ed Picson said if things fall into place, select Filipino boxers including Olympic-bound Irish Magno would train for two months at a facility in Muaklek, a two-hour drive from Bangkok starting in February.
“Our counterparts there are working feverishly to make this happen,” Picson told
Manila Bulletin, adding that they got an offer from the Thailand Boxing Federation last November.
He said the original plan was to send the PH squad last December, but they were faced with challenges in working on Thailand’s stringent requirements on travel protocols due to the pandemic.
