A KwaZulu-Natal teen who accepted a lift from a policeman while on her way to buy airtime, survived an alleged ordeal of rape, being locked in a house, and threatened with murder.

Relatives in court for possession of illegal firearms

Two men aged 35 and 50 are due to appear before the Mtunzini Magistrates’ Court this morning where they will be facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Their arrest came after an operation that was conducted by the King Cetshwayo Task Team last night. The pair was arrested in the early hours of today at a homestead at Noshungu Reserve in Mtunzini. A 35-year-old man was found in possession of a pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition. A 50-year-old man was found in possession of a shotgun with six rounds of ammunition. Both suspects were placed under arrest for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in the commission of serious and violent crimes in the country.
