The area commissioner of Mthatha’s Wellington Prison, John Msimango, is fighting for his life in hospital along with one of his daughters after a devastating fire gutted their house on prison premises on Tuesday evening. His wife and two other children did not survive the inferno. Department of Correctional Services (DCS) national spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said in a statement on Wednesday that Msimango and his youngest daughter had managed to escape the fire by climbing through a window.
