STACY SQUIRES
Bex McLean and Darryl Norriss are running the mountain leg of Coast to Coast in memory of their father, Brent Norriss, who was killed by a distracted driver while riding his bike in February 2020.
Canterbury grandad Brent Norriss was cycling home from his work in Wellington when he was hit and killed by a driver who was distracted by his cellphone. The 65-year-old – who was affectionately described as a “fit old bugger” – completed the Coast to Coast five times and was looking forward to entering again in 2021. But following his death on February 3, 2020, his children – Bex McLean and Darryl Norriss – vowed to run the gruelling Coast to Coast Mountain Run in is memory.
