North Korea are planning a reopening of Mount Kumgang tourist area, state media said on Sunday, despite the ongoing pandemic.
The site was previously run in cooperation with South Korea, but will be rebuilt with North Korea s national character in mind, according to KCNA, a state-run media outlet.

North Korea on Sunday revealed controversial plans to redevelop the Mount Kumgang tourist area, a prominent site of former inter-Korean cooperation. It has been over a year since Kim Jong Un ordered the removal and replacement of South Korean facilities built there.
DPRK Premier Kim Tok Hun toured the area to “learn about its development” and was pictured in front of an annotated map depicting areas to be redeveloped for tourism purposes, state media showed on Sunday.
