It's been three years since the deadly EF-4 tornado tore through middle Tennessee on March 3, 2020. It destroyed homes and businesses from Nashville all the way through Putnam County.
Ever since the March 2020 tornadoes, students at Stoner Creek Elementary have been in temporary classrooms. And sadly, NewsChannel 5 learned this week they'll have to wait a little longer.
Tree turned into hope following last year s tornadoes
Weakened by the tornado a year ago, and worried about the next one, a Mt. Juliet family decided in a time of struggle to turn their old tree into a new sign of hope.

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) â So much has changed in Mt. Juliet in just one year. In the Barrett Drive neighborhood, for all of the homes that have been rebuilt, there have been some that have chosen not to rebuild.
On these streets, a patchwork of old and new. Gloria and Jay Kirkland, now proudly display what the tornado, in a sense, left behind. The tree stump was carved and painted into a bald eagle with an American flag below it.

In Mt. Juliet, three people died. The town held a vigil to help honor those victims, and to help heal.
Brandy Barker was one of the three who passed away in the tornado.
Teresa Mann, who lost her aunt and uncle Donna and Jim Eaton in the tornado attended the vigil.
