that, anderson. we ve seen it time and time again. the fact is among this community of mass shooters, you oftentimes see them conduct, like, assiduous research on other mass shootings, they look at other mass shooters tactics and techniques, sometimes they copy each other s manifesto s. you ve seen the infamous christchurch shooter, the mass shooter in new zealand, that served as kind of an inspiration for many, particularly racially-motivated mass shooter. we saw his words echoed by the el paso shooter. it goes on and on. and of course dylan chalybeate, harrison plebe old, the shooters in columbine years ago. it was a disgusting inspiration to shooters ever since. they feed off of each other s infamy. the msu campus, it s like 5300 acres. there s 400 buildings. a college campus like, that really any college campus, it
neither do we know the identities of those who have died. andrew miller junior we still appreciate your time and being with us at this time we re trying to process yourself. and sharing your experience. we thank you, and wish you the best of luck. all right, thank you. we are expecting a press conference from michigan state university. and the next ten minutes to update us on the fatal shooting on campus that happened earlier this evening. a little after 8:00. local time. we know that three people have died from the shooting. five people are in the hospital, some with life-threatening injuries, serious injuries. it s happening in two locations on campus at berkeley hall and the adjacent msu union.
as a nightmare like he said earlier there is no active threat. the shelter in place now over that means students cannot leave campus, parents can come and pick up their kids if they were like. what we know so far is that there have been three fatalities. two were at berkey hall, one was inside the msu union, that s adjacent to berkey all. as stems from reports of shots being fired at a 13 tonight. that s when police arrived on campus, and found students at those two locations. we don t know how many students were inside those two locations at a time of the shooting, police are working to, of course, make sure that the students who have been affected, and the families that have been affected, are making sure that they fail like they re being taken care of. they re offering service to anyone affected by the shooting. the shooting [buzz] police said the investigation you can always spot a first timer.
area towards lake lansing road. so, that would seem probably that something is happening there. on campus right now, i know that we still have several students who are students, faculty members, staff who are in lockdown there. and what we are seeing happen on campus right now is information is going out internally to everyone who is connected, letting them know what police will say when they come to the door to get them out. we have people who are by themselves, in lock rooms, with the lights out. and they need to know how to validate that the person on the other side of that room is a lot enforcement official. so, we are sharing that information internally. obviously, i won t say that information on the air. but that s the effort that s underway right now on campus, get those people out, make sure they re all safe. but there s definitely something going on here again. we can just tell, just based on all the long forsman activity in the immediate vicinity here.
