we re joined by msnbc s garrett haake on capitol hill. i m not sure how late you were up for this thing. it came and went really quickly. the second shutdown in three weeks. but i think it did teach us some lessons in terms of some division within the ranks of the republican party. what are those? it really did. on the issue of debt and deficits, which was such a driving force to create the republican majority in the house, especially, back in 2010, the orthodoxy in the republican party is going a different way. so this budget deal which was agreed to last night, signed by the president today includes an additional $300 billion in additional spending over just the next two years. that doesn t even include the $90 billion in disaster aid for texas, florida, puerto rico, california, other states that need it after the disasters we saw last summer. if this bill had come to the floor when barack obama was president, i think we would be having a very different conversation. republicans wo
