conservative state senator from downstate illinois has romp to the republican nomination for governor, over a much more moderate candidate, richard irvine, he wouldn t even say if he voted for donald trump. bailey was endorsed by donald trump. democrats spent big trying to get bailey boosted here, believing he d be a very beatable candidate. it s up for him a general election showdown with the incumbent governor, j. b. pritzker, he got 55% of the vote back then. this is a gamble, democrats are taking in illinois. they think they have identified a very beatable candidate, they ve spent very heavily, we ll see if their bet pays off as they got a republican appointment there are hoping for. steve kornacki, thanks very much for that, we need the update. that is tonight s last word, msnbc s coverage of today s january 6th hearing continues
primaries in runoffs in alabama, arkansas, georgia, virginia, and washington, d.c.. that means it s time for msnbc national political correspondent steve kornacki. steve, what s the headline? well, the headline and alabama as that saga, the soap opera of ammo brooks and donald trump has come to an end here. brooks losing the runoff for the u.s. senate in the republican side in alabama. remember, brooks, the congressman, originally had trump s endorsement. donald trump then withdrew his endorsement. brooks made it into this one off with katie brit. he then publicly appealed for trump to reconsider, and we endorse him. trump responded to that by endorsing katie britt. katie bright, the former chief of staff, to a church, albion who can senator who is not seeking reelection, quite obviously, a state like alabama now the clear fate to witness seat in november. on the house side in georgia, a couple of runoffs here. two of note and particular. the six district, you see here jake evans, he
