Among those hoping to have cause to celebrate at Cartmel Racecourse is trainer Dianne Sayer. Mrs Sayer, who trains at Hackthorpe, near Penrith, needs just one more success to make it 200 winners over jumps. She is hoping Calliope will get her to the magic number on Saturday. “We are certainly hoping to run at Cartmel this weekend,” she said. “The owners are very keen for Calliope to run and I love having runners there, so, hopefully, she will get in at the bottom of the handicap.” The daughter of former trainer Evelyn Slack, Mrs Sayer began her training career in 1997. She has sent out 23 winners at Cartmel since 2009.
