Nigeria s Head Of Civil Service Under Fire For Denigrating Directors Who Failed Perm Secretary Exam Amid Controversy Over N250,000 Payment By Each Applicant

  Some senior federal civil servants have expressed displeasure over the portrayal of directors as incompetent after the recent release of examination results for the position of permanent secretaries.   The senior civil servants criticised a comment attributed to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOS), Mrs Folasade Yemi-Esan, that only 20 directors out of 85 initially invited to take the promotion examination to the rank of Permanent Secretary scaled through the exercise.

  Some sources have described the recent conduct of examination for directors to be appointed for the position of permanent secretaries by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOS), Mrs Folasade Yemi-Esan, as illegal.   Citing some constitutional provisions, they argued that the carrying out of such an exercise by Yemi-Esan constitutes the usurpation of President Bola Tinubu’s constitutional power.   The President has exclusive powers to appoint permanent secretaries, the sources said.  

Two Civil Servants Slump Amid Overcrowding At Abuja IPPIS Verification Exercise Centre Hosting 17,000 Workers From Across Nigeria

  No fewer than two federal civil servants in Nigeria on Wednesday slumped at the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) verification exercise centre in Abuja.   SaharaReporters gathered that the workers slumped due to overcrowding at the centre and were rushed to a nearby hospital by some of their colleagues.   A video obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday shows the rowdy exercise with no regulations at the Abuja venue where about 17,000 workers from across Nigeria were directed to report for the programme.
