Khunou appeared at the Tlhabane magistrate s court to argue why an interim protection order granted to his alleged former flame Sina Makgatlha in December should not be finalised. Judgment was postponed until next week.

The stakes are high for embattled Rustenburg mayor Mpho Khunou, who faces the woman who accused him of intimidation and leaking her nudes in court, in his bid to overturn a protection order granted last year.

The mayor of a North West municipality who has been accused of harassment is set to face off with his accuser in court today to overturn an interim protection order granted against him.
Rustenburg mayor Mpho Khunou’s lawyers will today seek to overturn the order in the Tlhabane magistrate’s court that was obtained by his former colleague Sinah Makgatlha, 35, who further claimed they were in a romantic relationship, but he has denied this.

The North West MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation has reacted to the accusations by the Rustenburg Local Municipality.
On Tuesday, the municipality accused two officials from the office of MEC Tlhapi Galebekwe of being involved in a plan to disrupt services by staging a shutdown. In Galebekwe s response to the accusation made by the municipality, the MEC tells OFM News that she is not even aware of the so-called Rustenburg shutdown and does not know what is the motive behind the scathing statement. Galebekwe adds that she, in consultation with the relevant authorities and the African National Congress (ANC), will obtain a suitable solution to the matter.
