Acquiring land has become a key responsibility for YEIDA ever since the Jewar airport project started taking shape
GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), which has to develop several sectors off the Yamuna Expressway in the wake of the Jewar airport project, has decided to adopt a pooling policy to acquire land from farmers.
Modelled on a scheme adopted by the Telangana government, the pooling policy is likely to enhance the bargaining power of land owners. Instead of a one-time settlement under the Land Acquisition Act, a farmer will be given the money for 75% of the land acquired from him and will get back the remaining 25% of the plot after the authority develops basic infrastructure around it. Till the time the developed plot is given back to the owner, YEIDA will pay him an annual rent of Rs 60,000 per acre.
