Dozens of birds have been found sick and dead including this one we saw just an hour and a half ago by the east bay Regional Park in hayward. It took us a few minutes to realize it. It is day four of an unofficial response by volunteers. International bird rescue in fairfield is housing and rehabbing these sick birds that are coated with a thick, sticky gray, unknown substance. At last check an hour ago, its gotten 179 birds, 150 of them still alive in house, plus dozens more getting rescued by teams today. Its so important to save these animals that we find in distress especially when its man caused. Its our responsibility. We did this. Humans did this. This is our nature. The blinding smoke quickly filled the plaza metro station yet afternoon. Hundreds were evacuated from the station and a stalled train. One person died and dozens suffered from smoke inhalation.
