Eyewitness News Reporter matt rivers tells us the nurse is the first person in the u. S. To be diagnosed without ever traveling to africa. Reporter the preventive measures were supposedly all there, the hospital worker was wearing a mask gown gloves and other protective clothing while she helped treat ebola patient Thomas Duncan and yet she was still infected by the virus. How disturbing is it that even after those precautions this person still contracted the disease. Were very concerned. Reporter Texas Health Presbyterian officials didnt identify the workers only telling reporter she came into contact with duncan during his second visit to the hospital. He died last week. Even a single breach can result in contamination. Reporter Health Officials tell cbs news they believe the worker made a mistake somehow violating safety protocols.
