I want to talk today about something that has unconsciously and indirectly led to a tierney of experts. Lets call it the technocratic approach for Economic Development. Its the idea that poverty is really just a set of technical problems. So, for example the area there is a variety of Technical Solutions one of them involves spraying a chemical called pyrethroid on the walls of peoples houses and the inside wall to kill mosquitoes that kill malaria. It helps fight malaria and other Technical Solutions might be to convert land to higher value uses like from food crops that have low value to those that have higher value the approach of the element that seems so appealing Industry Forward and uncontroversial may not in fact be quite that easy.
