A Palestinian was killed late Tuesday evening by Israeli gunfire at the entrance to a town in the occupied West Bank, which has witnessed clashes between protesters and Israeli forces in recent weeks.

Shadi Omar Lotfi Salim, 41, was “shot dead” near the village of Beita, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Contacted by AFP, the Israeli army confirmed having opened fire at a Palestinian in this area.
The assistant mayor of the village, Moussa Hamayel, told AFP that the man was killed at the entrance to the village by Israeli soldiers on his way home from work. “He was killed in cold blood,” he said, assuring that there were no demonstrations Tuesday night in the area.
