One of Utah’s worst shootings occurred in January in Grantsville.
On the evening of Jan. 17, 2020 around 7:00 p.m., Grantsville police responded to a 911 call at 93 S. Eastmoor Drive in Grantsville.
Upon entering the residence, police found four deceased victims. Police cleared the home and secured it until the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services arrived to investigate the crime scene.
A third party, who went to visit the house unaware of the incident, drove the suspect, identified as Colin Jeffery, CJ, Haynie, 16, and a fifth victim, identified as Colin Haynie, 50, who is CJ Haynie’s father, to Mountain West Medical Center. The third party is also reported to have called 911 on the way to the hospital.
The COVID-19 vaccine has reached Tooele County.
The first COVID-19 vaccinations given in Tooele County were administered to Mountain West Medical Center staff on Monday morning. The Tooele County Health Department followed vaccinations for their healthcare workers Tuesday morning.
The second dose of the vaccine will be given 28 days after the first dose was received.
A total of 85 employees at the hospital were given Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine on Monday, which has proven to be 94% effective in preventing COVID-19.
Becky Trigg, marketing director and public information officer for Mountain West Medical Center, said that the hospital has 450 staff members and they plan to vaccinate all members of staff, whether paid or volunteers, who want the vaccination, but it will take all week.

SALT LAKE CITY Utah’s rural hospitals are now vaccinating against COVID-19 with facilities in Heber City and Park City announcing front-line workers receiving injections this week.
The Utah Department of Health said Thursday that 14,822 vaccines have been administered in the Beehive State. The news comes as the number of positive COVID-19 tests continues to climb, with the agency reporting 2,892 new cases on Thursday, bringing the state s overall number of infections to 260,589 since the pandemic arrived.
Another nine Utahns have died of the novel coronavirus, putting the state’s death toll at 1,204. One previous death has been removed from the total and is under further investigation, the health department said in its news release.

Hospitals in Park City, Heber and Gunnison started administering the vaccine to workers this week.
