An Anamosa man has been arrested after he led authorities on a chase through Linn County early Thursday morning.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy tried stopping 24-year old Corydon Strickell, who was erratically driving a white Pontiac Montana van in Cedar Rapids shortly before 2 am. Strickell initially stopped, but then took off after the deputy got out of his patrol car. A pursuit ensued, with the van heading east out of town, reaching speeds of more than 110 miles per hour at times. As he neared Mount Vernon, Strickell started turning northeast onto the gravel roads.
Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed on the van twice during the 30-minute pursuit, with Strickell eventually stopping east of Marion. The van sustained significant damage due to Strickell continuing to drive on the flattened tires.
