Saying the community’s health depends upon it, Ryan Maurer has asked the Mount Penn Municipal Authority to suspend all water shut-offs until Gov. Wolf’s COVID-19 disaster declaration expires at the end of February. Maurer, a Mount Penn borough councilman who made the request at Wednesday evening’s municipal authority meeting, proposed that delinquent customers pay $25 until the disaster declaration is lifted and then be given 60 days to make full payment. “We are currently embroiled in a global pandemic which requires frequent handwashing,” Maurer said. “It is imperative that financial constraints not hinder accessibility to running water for constituents of the Mount Penn Borough in the time of a pandemic.”
