Earth Day was celebrated in the Cayo District on Thursday April 22nd, with a groundbreaking ceremony for a Garden Project held at the Eden Seventh Day Adventist High School agriculture ground in Santa Elena. Principal Erodito Pineda was present to greet Mayor Earl Trapp Jr, who participated in the event.
The School Garden Project came together with the help of San Ignacio & Santa Elena Town Council, the Scout Association of Belize, The San Ignacio and Santa Elena Sustainable Child-friendly Municipality – Children Advisory Body, and other partners.
The Community Garden will provide fresh organic food and seedlings for the people of San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town. It will provide a base for educational programs for everyone willing to start growing their own home garden.
