Heavy rains at this time of year are not unusual, but the sheer loss of life certainly is. More than 1200 people are believed to have died in the region. Relief agencies are struggling to get help to millions of people who have been affected. The monsoon rains are the heaviest that india, nepal and bangladesh have seen in decades.
