(Pixabay) ANN ARBOR – Although children are for the most part spared from developing severe illness from COVID-19, as time goes on, states are reporting more cases of a rare condition developing in children called multi-system inflammatory syndrome, or MIS-C. The condition causes vital organs and tissues to become severely inflamed, and it could be life-threatening without treatment. The first cases emerged in May 2020 in the United States and Europe. Nearly a year on, 48 states have documented cases of the serious condition.

Now in its 28th year, the event raises funds to support congenital heart research and families whose children with life-threatening heart conditions receive treatment at Mott.
