The death count in a suspected illicit liquor or hooch tragedy in Bihar's East Champaran district rose to 27 today with one more person losing his life after consuming the toxic liquor in Bihar's Motihari, police said.
On Monday, Nitish Kumar said his government would provide Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased, provided they give an undertaking in favour of a liquor ban in the state.
After the death toll in the Motihari Hooch tragedy rose to 22, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that the state government would provide Rs 4 lakhs to the families of the deceased, provided that they give in writing that they are in favour of alcohol ban and against drinking alcohol.
