THE GUINNESS Book of World Records is a household name for many around the world. And every year, plenty of people attempt to smash previous records in the hope of seeing their name in print as the world record holder. Here, in no particular order, are three world records held in Herefordshire. It might not come as a surprise that Hereford s Mappa Mundi is in the record books. The largest surviving medieval world map has been housed in Hereford Cathedral since the middle ages. The 1.58 x 1.33 m (5 ft 2 in x 4 ft 4 in) map was created in England in around 1300, and shows the world as it was known to scholars in medieval Europe.
