This might seem self-evident when you take a second to think about it, but then why would you be thinking about this at all unless you work in the relatively booming beard care industry or you’re a pogonophile a lover of beards and the bearded.
The Economist wrote about that very philia in a 2015 article about the growing trend of beardedness while reporting from the National Beard and Mustache Championship that was taking place in Brooklyn that year … obviously. (A year earlier, in February 2014, the
New York Post ran a story about men in Brooklyn paying as much as $8,500 for facial hair transplants in order to grow better beards.)
As many area residents plan to celebrate Christmas at home this year, local bookstore owners are touting the benefits of giving a good book for any age.
âI love books,â said Kara Fogle, owner of Booâs Books, a childrenâs bookstore at Fort Valley Nursery, 1175 S. Hisey Ave., Woodstock.
âA book is pretty versatile entertainment,â she said. â[Itâs] something that you can revisit over and over again. ⦠Itâs something that you can do anywhere, anytime.â
Whether youâre buying for a longtime book-lover or a new reader, she suggested people consider âexpanding horizonsâ through quality literature, illustrations, photography, education and an unforgettable story.
