Evidence Preservation at Police Stations: It’s a mess in Maalkhanas
At first glance, it looked like piles of trash jumbled together.
Documents, firearms, bullets, mouldy clothes and shoes, human bones and drugs were strewn across the storeroom, widely known as a maalkhana, at Kushtia Model Police Station.
All these are important pieces of evidence collected in various cases filed with the police station. Insects were buzzing inside the room, which remains closed most of the time and smelled. We do not have proper facilities to preserve the evidence and there are chances of those getting damaged, said Kamruzzaman Talukdar, officer-in-charge of the police station, adding that he contacted the higher authorities for special arrangements to preserve the evidence.

Saying that internal dispute in Gonoforum has been settled, the party s President Dr Kamal Hossain today said there is no problem in the party at present. There is no misunderstanding and division in Gonoforum. Leaders and workers of Gonoforum will conduct the party activities together, he said at a press conference at his residence in Dhaka.
Asked about the split of Gonoforum, Dr Kamal, one of the architects of the country s constitution, said nothing like that happened in the party. Even if (any problem) had happened, it s not remaining in the party at present. There is no problem in the party.
