Area Teacher In Court Today

By Tom King WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) An area art teacher is charged with sexual misconduct involving a student. WAOW TV is reporting that Christy Mathis, a teacher in the Mosinee School District, could be facing charges of sexual assault of a student by school staff. That’s according to the Wausau Police Department’s public information portal. A statement from Mosinee PD says Mathis is being investigated for having “inappropriate contact with a female student.” Further details have not been released. She was taken into custody on Monday, and was scheduled for an appearance in Marathon County court on Tuesday afternoon.
