KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): Prescription pharmacy chain Alpro Pharmacy in collaboration with managed care services provider MiCare Group have accumulated RM8 million in savings on medication costs from their Corporate Disease Management Program (CDMP) across Malaysia in a span of two years. MiCare Group is a third party administrator and a joint venture of Zuellig Pharma Group, IFC (member of World Bank) and Mitsui & Co.
Chinese medical device maker Mindray launches new diagnostic ultrasound system
Shenzhen-listed medical devices developer Mindray has introduced its latest imaging diagnostic ultrasound system called Resona I9.
In a press release, the company said the new device features a customisable control panel, foldable structure to a height of one meter, extended battery life and a silent design. It also said the device helps reduce fatigue during scans.
Resona I9 is powered by Mindray s ZST+ platform, which enables the delivery of exceptional image quality for infinite imaging solutions. It is also equipped with Smart Breast and Smart Thyroid automatic standard lesion analysis that shortens examination times.
Funding will help medical claims firm to expand in key Southeast Asian markets

MiCare currently processes about US$400 million in medical claims annually.
International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Mitsui & Co. (Asia Pacific) have agreed to invest US$60 million in MiCare HealthTEC Holdings, a medical claims administrator and subsidiary of Zuellig Pharma. Zuellig Pharma will remain as MiCare’s largest shareholder and MiCare will continue to be led by its founder and chief executive officer Moses Hee.
The strategic investment will be used to fund MiCare’s expansion in key Southeast Asian markets, including Indonesia and Vietnam, and set up a new regional headquarters in Singapore. Baker McKenzie acted as legal adviser for the deal.
