Court gives Navalny s press secretary 10 days arrest for organization of unauthorized rally
MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Moscow s Meshchansky District Court has ruled to give ten days of administrative arrest to Kira Yarmysh, opposition activist Alexei Navalny s press secretary, for violating the rally organization procedure, lawyer Veronica Polyakova told Interfax on Wednesday. Kira has been found guilty of committing the offence covered by Code of Administrative Offences Article 20.2, Part 2 (violation of a procedure for organizing a public event) and given ten days of administrative arrest, Polyakova said.
She said Yarmysh s arrest will be appealed.
As was reported earlier on Wednesday, Yarmysh was detained in Moscow. Her lawyer said she was accused of calling for joining an unsanctioned rally.
Court refuses to send Baring Vostok case back to prosecutor s office
MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - Moscow s Meshchansky District Court has refused to grant the defense team s motion and return the criminal case against the founder of the Baring Vostok investment fund, U.S. businessman Michael Calvey, and his coworkers, all charged with embezzling Vostochny Bank funds, to the prosecutor. [The court] hasn t granted the motion of the defense to return the criminal case to the prosecutor s office, the court s press service told Interfax on Friday.
The court held a preliminary hearing to determine that it would begin to consider the case on its merits on February 2, the press service said.
