The year 2024 marks the 125th anniversary of the Flathead Lake Biological Station, a world-renowned research facility. The station, as an administrative unit within the University of Montana system, conducts college courses and research focused on the Crown of the Continent ecosystem.
From its inception in 1899, the Flathead Lake Biological Station was known as the “Sentinel,” or guardian, of the lake. For researchers working in the facility today, that sentiment still holds true.
