so it was a blizzard this morning, at least near-blizzard conditions. and now it s just a nasty rainstorm. and more snow expected. and that s just new york city. this is a monstrous storm. jennifer gray has been tracking this with the radar. i keep looking at this picture of the east coast. it just either looks green, red, blue or nasty colored. and i m wondering how long this is going to last, jennifer. yeah, well, the short answer is it s going to last until later this everyoning. a lot of areas during the overnight. but you re right, it s snow, it s changing to rain. we could get more snow by the end of the day. it is a mixture and it s going to create an icy mess as this all refreezes overnight. tomorrow morning travel is going to be very dangerous. look at these snow totals though. most of these are just in a couple of hours. we had 15 inches of snow in virginia. philly, 13. 11 in d.c., and almost 10 inches in new york. and a lot of these numbers will increase as we go through t
system that brought feet of snow across the central plains, wind gusts in excess of 80 miles an hour and it s riding up along the great lakes region, up towards the northeast. you can see where it s rain along the coast, interior sections still getting a lot of snow. you can see the counter clockwise activity. that s the upper level low basically across the great lakes. temperatures are going to remain cools we head into the weekend. even into early next week. so 33 in chicago. 32 in cleveland. what it really feels like with the wind out there, feels like 17 in rapid city. 4 in denver. 20 in kansas city. the countdown to spring is on. tomorrow is the first day of march. just got to make it to the 20th. there is your morning travel. we could see delays in chicago as well as portland with a system moving onshore there. and as we look at some of the other big cities across the country, boston, late volume now, maybe later you could see delays. new york, call ahead. it s been really busy o
season it s not a surprise but it will cause travel delays as we head into the weekend and next week. we want to show you we have a weak low pressure system off the delmarva coast bringing light rain here. nuisance rain is not really going to cause a lot of problems but the west coast. the northeast will get a break but the west is not going to get a break over the next several days you can see rain and mountain snow from the northwest down to southern california and then across the rockies as we head into the weekend. several inches of rain in some cases 4-6 inches of rain and feet of snow as again several systems are going to come inland over the weekend even into early next week. we will keep you posted the morning travel looks good across the major hub boston into dallas light travel for you. looking ahead toward parts of the west coast portland. later on today you will see showers but for now looking good. light air traffic for
