A man assaulted a postal worker in San Tan Valley on Saturday after she refused to give him mail without identification.
U.S. Postal Inspectors are investigating the incident, said U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesperson Elizabeth Davis.
Around 2 p.m. Saturday, a man approached a mail carrier as she was delivering mail into a neighborhood delivery collection box unit, Davis said. The man, around 6 feet tall, wanted his mail.
When the mail carrier said he had to show an ID, he was reportedly unwilling. Davis said he elbowed the carrier in the face forcefully and walked away, leaving her with a black eye.
