The Nyssa City Council took another step toward rezoning some property, now residential, to commercial for further expansion of an onion shipping business. The council voted 4-to-3 for the zone change for Fiesta Farms during its regular month meeting Tuesday, with a third vote set to happen in May.
Owners Marc and Tamara Bybee are seeking zone changes on lots adjoining those already zoned for commercial and light industrial to the same so they can expand their storage and packing facilities for onions.
There was no discussion on the issue before the vote, but during previous meetings local residents had expressed concern about possible noise and other impacts on residents living in the same area.
