Australian unemployment drops to 7 8% in June – equal lowest since the pandemic began

In June unemployment dropped for a second straight month, down 0.3% points to 7.8%, according to the latest Roy Morgan monthly employment data. The drop in unemployment was driven by increasing full-time jobs which boosted the overall number of employed Australians.

The latest Roy Morgan employment series data shows unemployment dropping by 1.6% points to 8.1% in May as many Australians took up part-time employment in relation to the recent Federal Election. Under-employment in May increased slightly by 0.2% points to 8.6%.

Australian unemployment jumps to 9 7% in April; highest since July 2021 but under-employment unchanged

The latest Roy Morgan employment series data shows unemployment increasing by 1.9% points to 9.7% in April - the biggest monthly increase since the initial stages of the pandemic just over two years ago. However, under-employment was unchanged at 8.4% in April.
