Morgan County Health Officials are hoping a meeting today at Passavant Area Hospital has an effect in Washington D.C. on the fight against COVID-19.

th District U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood toured the Morgan County Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Passavant this morning. LaHood spoke with health officials that included Health Department Administrator Dale Bainter, Passavant Area Hospital President and CEO Dr. Scott Boston, and ESDA Director for Morgan County Phil McCarty.
LaHood spoke with the group for more than a half-hour in the lobby’s main hall about both the successes and the needs in Morgan County’s vaccination efforts. Following a tour of the clinic, LaHood commended healthcare workers in Morgan County for their continued efforts in distributing the vaccine.

Morgan County Health Officials received confirmation of the 95
th death attributed to COVID-19 yesterday.
A female in her 80’s died at a hospital. 26 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Morgan yesterday, bringing the total to 82 active cases and 121 people under quarantine.
Cass County reported three new cases raising the active total slightly to now 35 with cases remaining hospitalized.
Greene County reported four new cases bringing the total of active to 46.
Four new cases were reported in Pike County. Pike now has 24 active cases with four people hospitalized.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Wednesday 3,314 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 69 additional deaths.

Savana Long, a nursing student in her senior year at Illinois College recieves her first dose of COVID vaccine from Keri Jackson with the Morgan County Health Departemnt at a distribution held by Morgan County Health Officials Tuesday.
Distribution of the COVID vaccine continued in Morgan County this week.
Over 200 individuals were registered to receive their first dose on Tuesday in Jacksonville during a restricted distribution event conducted by the Morgan County Health Department in conjunction with the Jacksonville Fire Department and Jacksonville Morgan County Office of Emergency Management.
Vaccinations were administered to front line healthcare workers who fall within the Illinois Department of Public Health’s 1a allocation group including health care workers in hospitals, medial outpatient facilities, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, among many others.

Morgan County Health Officials announced two newly reported deaths yesterday from COVID-19. Two females, one in her 90s and one in her 80s, both passed at long-term care facilities. The Health Department also announced 24 new cases of the virus yesterday. Morgan County’s active case count is now at 319, with 17 of those hospitalized. 504 people are now under quarantine.
Schuyler County Health Officials announced 8 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. Schuyler County still has 95 active cases of the virus, after 8 people were moved to fully recovered status.
Pike County Health Officials announced 10 new cases of the virus yesterday. 118 cases are active in Pike County, with 16 people remaining hospitalized.
