The deaths happened in two villages of Morena district, including Manpur Prithwi village of Bagchini police station area and Pahawali village under Sumaoli police station area.

BHOPAL: At least 14 men died allegedly after consuming spurious liquor in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday. Of the 18 people admitted to various hospitals, the condition of three was critical. The deceased and the hospitalised people hail from Manpur Prithwi, Pahwali, and Chherna villages under Bagchini and Sumaoli police station limits of Morena district.
Two key accused Ramveer Rathore and Pappu Pandit are among 16 hospitalised after consuming the spurious liquor.

BHOPAL: Heads have started to roll amid the rising death toll from the spurious liquor tragedy in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh as CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered the removal of Morena District Collector Anurag Verma and SP Anurag Sujaniya.
A sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) was suspended over dereliction of duty. The Bagchini police station in-charge and the Morena district excise officer Javed Ahmad were also suspended.
While the death toll rose to 21 till Wednesday afternoon, the CM chaired a high-level meeting over the incident in Bhopal on Wednesday morning. It was decided to constitute a high-level fact-finding committee to probe the incident and also identify the lapses which led to the tragedy.

MP hooch tragedy toll mounts to 22; Collector, SP removed
Morena, MP, Jan 13 (UNI) The death toll owing to consumption of spurious liquor rose to 22 on Wednesday in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena District even as 18 individuals are battling for life at infirmaries here and in Gwalior divisional headquarters.
The administration swung into action by transferring Collector Anurag Verma and Superintendent of Police Anurag Sujania – in compliance of directives from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan subsequent to his chairing a high-level review meeting in the state capital. Mr Verma was reassigned as Deputy Secretary (Mantralaya) and Mr Sujania as Assistant Inspector General (Headquarters).
