OECS Congratulates Government and People of Grenada on 47th Anniversary of Independence

The Commission of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has extended to the Government and people of Grenada warmest congratulations on the occasion of the nation’s 47th Anniversary of Independence on Sunday, February 7th 2021.
As Grenada celebrates this milestone under the theme “Rebuilding Together a Safer, More Resilient Nation in These Challenging Times”, the Commission , in a press release called for continued good health, peace, stability and progress for the nation.
A virtual flag-raising ceremony was held at the OECS headquarters in Saint Lucia on Friday, February 5th 2021 to commemorate the event. The ceremony featured a recorded message from the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr. the Rt. Honourable Keith Mitchell; and an address by the Director General of the OECS, Dr. Didacus Jules. (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana, Thursday, 4 February 2021) - The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated Grenada on its Forty-Seventh Anniversary of Independence, praising its great example of resilience.
CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Keith Mitchell, said Grenada has made great strides, and its citizens have made their mark globally in academia, diplomacy and sport to name a few.
He said the theme for this year’s celebration, “Rebuilding Together a safer, More Resilient Nation in these Challenging Times,” resonates throughout the Community during this current period.
“The people of Grenada have been a great example of resilience throughout the period of nationhood, demonstrating time and again a resolve to surmount whatever challenges stood in the way of developing the country” the Secretary-General said.
