Fresno Unified, Central Unified school districts to continue with remote learning until county s COVID cases go down

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) Getting the green light doesn t mean all school districts are a go to return their youngest students to in-person instruction. Fresno Unified superintendent Bob Nelson says the district, which serves nearly 80,000 students, isn t deviating from October plans to only return to in-person instruction when the county reaches the orange tier. Nelson says, We can t do this start then stop, start and stop , once we get kids back they need to be able to stay back. One of the provisions in the new guidelines are that you have to COVID-test the kids and faculty members that are going to come back and serve them.

Parents outraged over Apple TV commercial shoot at Los Angeles school despite most area campuses remaining closed for in-person learning

While most schools in Southern California remain empty during the pandemic, one elementary school is full of students but they re not there to attend class. Kester Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles is being used to film an Apple commercial, and the campus activity is raising a lot of questions among parents. Even more upsetting for parents is that some of the kids were seen without masks and not physical distancing. Filming rules are different than the rules currently in place to get schools open. Productions must follow strict guidelines and have a compliance officer on set. Still, parents can t understand why the same safety measures can t be used to get students back on campus for in-person learning.
