The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Tuesday 227 new deaths, including an additional death at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, and 12,979 new cases of COVID-19 countywide, with 16,369 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The high number of new deaths countywide reflects a significant number of deaths from the backlog associated with the Spectrum outage and holiday reporting delays. Public Health anticipates confirming additional deaths due to the backlog of death reports over the next two to three days.
To date, Public Health identified 746,089 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 9,782 deaths.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday 148 new deaths, including 5 additional deaths at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and 13,678 new cases of COVID-19 countywide, with 15,069 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has tragically surpassed 9,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths. L.A. County has experienced more than 1,000 COVID-19 deaths in just two weeks; on Dec. 8, the County reported 8,000 deaths. This is an average of nearly 73 COVID-19 deaths per day over the past two weeks.
To date, Public Health identified 647,542 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County, including 14,391 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley, and a total of 9,016 deaths countywide. Public Health confirmed Tuesday 88 new deaths and 12,954 new cases of COVID-19.
There are 5,866 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 20% of these people are in the ICU. The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 today is again a new high. Today’s daily hospitalization count has increased more than 2,700 daily patients from two weeks ago, when the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 was 3,113.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday 102 new deaths, including 3 additional deaths at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and 14,418 new cases of COVID-19, including 13,090 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
To date, Public Health identified 580,325 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 8,664 deaths.
There are 4,864 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 20% of these people are in the ICU. In the last two days the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 has increased by more than 450 people.
According to the State, the Southern California Region has 0% ICU capacity remaining.

This is the highest number of daily deaths reported countywide since the summer surge.
To date, Public Health identified 543,769 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 8,431 deaths.
There are 4,403 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 21% of these people are in the ICU. Hospitalizations have increased 4-fold since November 16. The number of people hospitalized was 1,049 on November 16 and over 4,400 today.
According to the State, the Southern California Region has 1.7% ICU capacity remaining.
