they re really things are really ramping up energetically on the trail and this is coming at a time super tuesday, if he s going into a federal courthouse, the day before, more than a dozen states throughout the country are voting. optically that would be extremely stark compared to ore candidates on the trail going to their rallies and their events and giving stump speeches. so i think it will be optically stark and the political ramifications of that to come. i think your point about optics is, a, 100% accurate. people say stop talking about optics. the optics him showing up for arraignments and indictments has had a boost in his fundraising and poll numbers and consolidated his republican support. you re on the republican campaign and looking at this calendar, he s off the trail for weeks. that s a huge net positive. but is it? i think what we saw in the beginning with the indictments was a boost for trump among
arkansas governor asa hutchinson there. he was the last candidate to qualify. i actually saw him flying here yesterday. he said he is excited to participate in this debate. yes, this is going to be essentially ringing the opening bell of the republican primary campaign in this summer. but, of course, the big person not on stage is donald trump. the fox news hosts have said they do plan to make him a central part of this debate. but the other candidates are looking for a way to break out in their own way. of course, chris christie, asa hutchinson and mike pence have been talking extensively in critical ways of the former president. the ore candidates largely have not been. they ll be looking for a viral mo moment, to possible, to introduce hethemselves. this is the biggest stage any of them have ever had to make their case to republican voters here. so there are many debates scheduled this fall. virtually one a month. but this is a critical one for these lower tiered candidates in
scandals around biden has really hurt him, and i think that as donald trump sees some of these indictments pile up and some of his legal woes, he s still outrunning them, and he s still way ahead. the competition has helped donald trump and has hurt joe biden. will: i ve got to move on, but i can t let you go without asking, this really has to be quick, but out of personal curiosity, do you think anybody made a dent in iowa this wreak? did spin stand out from the ore candidates on the republican side? oh, probably. i think vivek ramaswamy is making a big move. i think iowa s a little bit more hospitable to a desantis and, say, a pence than other states might be. will: yeah. but it s still trump s to lose in that state. trump lost iowa, biden lost iowa, so it s an important contest, but that s not the whole ball game. will: she ll be on the big weekend show tonight at 7 p.m.
